Why Black and White?
In his presentation, Cole Thompson will make the case that black and white is the perfect medium for nearly any subject. Interspersed between examples from his portfolios, Cole will share his photographic philosophies, such as: Never Listen to Others, Equipment is Overrated, and Vision is the Most Important Tool.
Fine Art photographer Cole Thompson has created his body of work through the experience of developing a personal vision rather than through a former education in photography. Thompson’s love of photography started from his first efforts at the age of 14. As an adult, he experienced a 30-year hiatus and took up photography again in 2004. He has spoken and written extensively about developing a personal vision. Says Cole, “If you are serious about improving your photography, consider focusing on your vision, without at least as much time and energy as you spend on developing your technical skills”.
