How to Shoot Your Passion: Techniques and Ideas for Social, Environmental and Cause-Related Photography
Photographer and conservationist Cristina Mittermeier uses her camera as a passport to document the complex issues where conservation of wild nature and human needs intersect. Her subjects range from indigenous people of the Amazon to climate change and ocean conservation. Cristina uses her passion for photography to influence the fate of our planet’s natural resources and is now a Sony Artisan of Imagery, one of only seven photographers representing Sony’s new cameras.
Among many other awards and recognitions she has been named 2010 Nature’s Best Conservation Photographer of the Year and is the recipient of the 2010 North American Nature Photographers Association Mission Award. Outdoor Photographer magazine selected her as one of the 40 most influential nature photographers of our generation for her contributions to the creation of the discipline known as conservation photography.

Our meetings are held at The Metropolitan Opera Guild Learning Center, on the 6th floor of the Samuel B. and David Rose Building at Lincoln Center. The address is 70 Lincoln Center Plaza, located at 165 West 65 Street, on the north side of West 65th Street, between Broadway and Amsterdam, closer to Amsterdam. (Google Map link) From the street level, take the elevator or escalator up one level and proceed through the revolving doors into the lobby of the Rose Building to get the elevator up to the 6th floor.
Lincoln Center is well served by public transportation—Subway: the #1 Local train stops at 66th Street/Lincoln Center Station; Buses: M5, M7, M10, M66, and M104 all stop within one block of Lincoln Center.
